Peck, Michael Peck, depressed about the continual whinging and moaning of the "Big Pratt" at Cwmbran regarding the lack of adequate lighting at the estate, summoned the "task force" with the remit of finally solving the problem.

After hours and hours of brainstorming sessions the following ideas were short-listed as being the most promising:

  1. Sack the Pratt- everyone knows that it gets dark at night (no sun).  If he doesn't like the dark - send him up the road!!

  2. Humour the Pratt - tell him that Management are aware of the problem and that a solution will shortly be implemented

  3. Actually try and improve the lighting using the following innovations:

  1. Solar powered street lighting (works well in the day)

  2. Lunar powered lights using a complex method of directing starlight and moonlight through a prism onto some mirrors and finally to the most affected areas of the estate (maybe not cost effective)

  3. Insect power - glow worms (actually a beetle) re-located to the local trees and hedges (of which there are plenty). The glow worm (LAMPYRIS NOCTILUCA ) thrives in pitch black conditions (no distractions), eats next to nothing, is environmentally friendly, cheap and needs no further upkeep or maintenance costs

  4. ..................the deliberations continue
